Oh the day was young
and the bright morning sun
drove away the cold night
for three little boys who just loved to fight.

The wet grass soaked our shoes
so much good time to lose
on the eastside of mainstreet
where me and the Gang used to meet.

We believed so hard it almost hurt
and it all came alive by mamas word.
At night I pulled the blankets over me
cause I was frightened by eternity.

But as the trees stopped to grow
and the red orange glow
set their branches on fire

When the priest rang his roaring bell
a new sunday came and gave us hell.

so the old mans gun was never fired.
